JF Automation

JF Automation is an industrial automation company headquartered in Mississauga, Canada. The company recently signed a contract with General Motors in Tonawanda, NY to perform retrofit work on General Motor’s CNC Machines.

In order for the company to fulfill their contract with General Motors they required a location near the Tonawanda facility.  JF Automation also needed to find a location that fit their production needs at an affordable cost. Since the company is new to the United States market place, understanding the differences between doing business in Canada and the US and addressing cross-border needs were critical components of the project.

Buffalo Niagara Enterprise (BNE) assisted the company in cross border due diligence by providing information on taxes, accounting, immigration, incorporation and banking in the United States.  To further help the company with cross border issues, BNE connected the company to some of the region’s cross border experts. To address workforce recruitment and training concerns, BNE introduced the company to the Workforce Investment Board, the Department of Labor, staffing agency, and Erie Community College’s CNC precision machine program.   
BNE also played a large role in helping the company identify a flexible building space for their operation that will allow for growth when needed. The company has leased 2,693 sq. ft. of space at 750 Ensminger Rd, Tonawanda, NY.  They will be hiring 20 new employees and investing $520,000 in the region.
