Locating
You’re very welcome.
Whether you’re from out of town, out of state, or out of country, Buffalo Niagara finds making new friends out of this world. Since 1999, we have helped over 50 American, Canadian, and international companies set up shop in Buffalo Niagara. They’ve chosen to locate new facilities – or to relocate existing operations – in Buffalo Niagara because we’re a region where life and business work.
Location, location, location. Buffalo Niagara has a strategic one, in Western New York State, on the Canadian border, within 500 miles of 41% of the U.S. population. Our Great Lakes waterfront – Lake Ontario and Lake Erie – make us a shipping and logistics hub, and provides our sustainable energy and plentiful water. (That sound you hear in the background? Niagara Falls.) We also have in-place infrastructure: highway systems, transportation, utilities, schools – and technology. (Buffalo’s among the Top 25 un-Wired [wireless] Cities in the U.S.)
We don’t just have Great Lakes and great infrastructure, we have great minds, studying and researching at our colleges and universities. New York State’s Center of Excellence in Bio-Informatics is located here, as is the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, the nation’s first comprehensive cancer research center.
We’re also the home to a highly productive, skilled workforce – with a well-deserved reputation for their unbeatable work ethic.
Here are just a few of the dynamic businesses that have chosen to locate in Buffalo Niagara:
Cleveland BioLabs is on the cutting edge of cancer drug development, and relocated 31
positions from Cleveland; 35-40 new jobs will be created over the next few years.
GEICO, one of America’s largest insurance companies, located a regional customer service
center to Western New York; this represents a $40 million investment that’s expected to
create up to 2,500 new jobs.
Delaco Steel is a steel blanking manufacturer based in Dearborn, Michigan that located a
150,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Buffalo Niagara through an investment of
$14.1 million. The new facility is bringing 100 new jobs to the area.
PharmIdeas manages research and clinical trials data; they recently moved their US
operations from Charlotte, NC to Amherst, NY to be closer to the region’s growing biotech
industry. The project is to create 10 new highly skilled jobs over the next three to four years,
and they are hoping to draw most from UB graduate students.
