Cross-Border Minefield: Tariffs, CFIUS and New Challenges in Trade & Investment

Since July 6, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has imposed Section 301 tariffs of 25% on Chinese-origin goods valued at $50 billion. In September, 10% tariffs went into effect on goods from China valued at $200 billion – until January 1, when that rate jumps to 25%. In the meantime, China has retaliated with countermeasure tariffs on U.S.-origin goods.
