“There is great engineering talent in Buffalo,” Walden said. “So you take that great talent and you meet their needs in a way that would be hard to do in San Francisco.”

When New Flyer first chose WNY for its expansion in 2016, it projected to create 32 jobs. Today, the company employs 70.

AML RightSource determined the City of Buffalo to be a superior location for expansion and the creation of a new high-tech office due to its close proximity to the company’s northeast Ohio operations, accessibility to a large pool of qualified and talented job candidates, and available space to support a growing workforce.

The project will add 10 jobs to the workforce at the Lockport data campus, bringing the total to 200. In all, the company has invested more than $500 million in the Lockport site in the past decade.

Alan Rosenhoch, director of domestic business development at Invest Buffalo Niagara, said the project is “one of the faster deals that came together” for the organization.

Buffalo’s affordability has always been a hallmark of its housing market, but the city has seen an increase in the number of young professionals in recent years, drawn in part by the area’s growing private sector.
