SWS Warning Lights Inc.
SWS Warning Lights Inc. (SWS) is a Canadian-based advanced manufacturing company that assembles safety warning lights for the construction industry. Their product is often found on snow plows, construction vehicles, and road construction signage. As SWS grew, they saw significant opportunities in the U.S. market, especially since their raw materials were being sourced from the U.S. An expansion to the U.S. would also help the company penetrate the larger U.S. market, establish a Made in the USA product, and reduce overall operating costs.

Pressure Drop Brewing
Karl Kolbe was born and raised in the Buffalo Niagara region. However, for the last seven years he has been brewing beer in Sacramento, California. Though craft beers captured his palate, Buffalo Niagara always had his heart.
When he decided he wanted to open his own brewery, he knew the City of Buffalo was the place. He and some partners went in on the business together, and thus, Pressure Drop Brewing was born. They will be brewing around eight beers at a time from 40 recipes, alternating them based on season. Their IPA-heavy beer will be ready in October.

Welded Tube USA
Headquartered in Concord (Toronto), Ontario, Welded Tube is a manufacturer of steel tubing, whose process is comprised of taking flat steel and forming it into round tubing 4½ to 9 inches in diameter, in custom lengths. The tubes are used for well casings and for other purposes at natural gas drilling sites, a growing market as drilling activity has grown rapidly in shale formations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The company currently employs more than 600 people in North America.

TROVE Predictive Data Science was spun out of not-for-profit CUBRC, a leading Research, Development, Testing and Systems Integration company located in the Buffalo Niagara region, which had developed a novel technology in the field of data fusion. Today, many companies, such as public utilities and telecommunications companies, have massive amounts of data that they collect in their normal business. TROVE Predictive Data Science was formed utilizing this technology to deliver analytical solutions and data-driven insights to its customers. Thier multi-source data fusion technology combines internal customer data with over 2,000 attributes of external third-party data.

Patient Pattern is a healthcare start-up company that was originally founded in western Connecticut where it operated virtually. The company has developed a web-based application to alleviate the growing complexity in navigating the health care system and diagnosing and assessing geriatric needs, for elderly patients. Patient Pattern’s software gives doctors, home health care providers, health care advocates, family members, and patients themselves a platform to develop highly customized and comprehensive care plans, resulting in greater control and optimal outcomes. Patients, with input from medical professionals and caregivers, undertake a validated assessment through a smart survey. The end product results in a comprehensive care plan that summarizes the patient’s current situation, tracks progress or decline and delivers recommendations along the way to improve decision-making and preparedness.
Patient Pattern provides their services to local care management companies, post-acute care programs, hospitals and home care agencies to help them understand how to best care for their complex patients.

John Bead
Founded in 1953, John Bead is now under direction by its third-generation owner. Headquartered in Toronto, the company assembles specialty bead and craft kits sold wholesale to large retailers, DIY jewelry makers via a retail outlet, and everyone in between. The company had long considered a U.S. expansion to capture further market growth and avoid logistic delays. John Bead’s leadership team wanted a U.S. location in close proximity to its Toronto headquarters, as well as a strong workforce that would allow its family-oriented values to permeate through the new operation.
