Thomas Kucharski, CEcD to serve one-year term as secretary/treasurer

INVEST BUFFALO NIAGARA PRESIDENT & CEO ELECTED AS INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL SECRETARY/TREASURER

BUFFALO, NY – Invest Buffalo Niagara (InBN)—the nonprofit, privately-funded economic development organization representing the eight counties of Western New York—announced today President & CEO will serve as International Economic Development Council (IEDC) secretary/treasurer.

IEDC is a nonprofit member organization serving over 5,000 economic developers. In June 2018, Buffalo and InBN hosted IEDC’s Future Forum, bringing over 200 economic developers to the community to study new trends.

The IEDC Nominating Committee elected Kucharski at the its Annual Conference, which was held September 30 – October 3 in Atlanta, GA. Kucharski will serve a one-year term in his new role beginning in January 2019.

“We look forward to Thomas Kucharski’s leadership as Secretary/Treasurer on the Board of Director’s Governance Committee. His new leadership role will ensure great accomplishments in 2019,” said Craig Richard, CEcD, 2018 IEDC board chair.

Kucharski has served in economic development in three regions over 30 years. He repatriated to Buffalo Niagara in 2000 to help start then Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, now InBN. Since that time, InBN has attracted companies investing over $5.5 billion in Buffalo Niagara and creating or retaining 43,703 jobs.

Kucharski said, “IEDC is the leading professional accreditation and advocacy organization for economic development in the U.S., Canada, and around the world. I am humbled to be elected and honored to serve on behalf of Western New York.”

Kucharski served a 10-year term on the IEDC board of directors from 2002-2012 and has previously chaired the audit committee.
