BE IN BUFFALO HOSTS INTERN TAKEOVER EVENT

BUFFALO, NY – Today Be in Buffalo—the region’s nonprofit talent attraction organization and a program of Invest Buffalo Niagara— announced its first ever Intern Takeover, scheduled for August 5, 4pm-8pm at Seneca One.

The event will feature a panel of professionals in different career stages offering career advice, and an open networking portion with companies highlighting job and internship opportunities, cornhole with intern/mentor teams, a free LinkedIn headshot booth, raffle prizes and more. Western New York college students are encouraged to attend the free event.

“This event is all about our college students making career and community connections,” said Jenna Kavanaugh, COO, Invest Buffalo Niagara. “We are excited to bring together higher education, private companies, nonprofits, and more to show all that Buffalo Niagara has to offer.”

Event sponsors include M&T Bank, National Fuel, National Grid, Allied Motion and GEICO. More than 15 additional local employers will be in attendance.

“At M&T, we know that it’s only through our collective efforts that we can truly drive lasting change, which is why we invest in and support programs and organizations that are making a difference in our community,” said Sarah Tanbakuchi, senior technology manager at M&T and head of the Tech Academy. “This Intern Takeover will help build more pathways to careers for Buffalo’s graduates, which will undoubtedly build a more thriving city.”

The professional panel will be moderated by Tanbakuchi and will feature:

  • Danielle Blount, Program Coordination, Launch NY, ECO Incubator
  • Merelin Antoni Ruiz, Supplier Quality Engineer, Moog
  • Royce Woods, Vice President of Community Development & Commercial Real Estate, Evans Bank
  • Susan Was, Vice President, AAA of Western & Central NY

“This event is a great way to get our interns more connected to the Buffalo region and the opportunities to grow their careers here,” said Blount. “When I started as an intern at Launch NY, I was able to learn valuable skills that I translated into a fulltime position post my MBA graduation and continued to grow my career with them.”
