Edwards Vacuum, a UK-based global leader in vacuum and abatement equipment for the semiconductor industry, identified the need to expand its U.S.manufacturing footprint to support its growing North American customer base.
With key customers in Albany, New York and Columbus, Ohio the company sought a centrally located site to advance its onshoring strategy and meet long-term growth goals.

Regional partners hosted a three-day tour of the Buffalo Niagara and Greater Rochester regions, showcasing the STAMP site, local colleges and universities, the Northland Workforce Training Center, and Buffalo Manufacturing Works. The team also highlighted workforce development initiatives and demonstrated the region’s competitive advantages, including the opportunity for a New York Power Authority (NYPA) hydropower allocation.
Edwards Vacuum ultimately selected the STAMP site in Genesee County for its new $319 million U.S. dry pump manufacturing facility. The technology produced there is essential to maintaining the highly controlled environments required for semiconductor manufacturing. Phase One of the 240,000-square-foot campus includes manufacturing, warehouse, and administrative space and will create 599 new jobs.
The company was confident in the region’s value proposition, citing access to 1.1 million people within a 30-mile radius and more than 30,000 engineering students at nearby institutions.
