Industry: Advanced Manufacturing

Jobs: 30 Projected

Investment: $750,000

Project Overview:

Both Jim Terhune Sr. and his son, James Terhune Jr. followed a similar career path. They both joined the United States Army and then entered a career in the metal and steel business. Today, with over 60 years of combined experience, the two decided it was time to expand Jim Sr.’s business and have his son James Jr. join him. James Jr. led the process and began looking for communities that fit the company’s brand, sites that would suit their needs, and options that would lower startup costs.

Project Solution:

Invest Buffalo Niagara and T&T Legacy Metals were connected and began expediting the expansion process. InBN assisted T&T Legacy Metals in its site selection, introductions to Insyte Consulting for shop layout assistance, and incentives coordination, of which T&T Legacy Metals was accepted into the Empire State Development Excelsior Jobs Program and awarded a National Grid grant. T&T Legacy Metals chose a building at 90 Pearce Avenue in Tonawanda, which is both in a HUB Zone and Opportunity Zone, lowering costs and allowing the company to more easily pursue government contracts. T&T Legacy Metals hopes to hire 30 employees and invest $750,000 over the next five years.
